      Re: Expected Speed?

It depends on where the cabling goes, as it will probably not go straight to the exchange, adding more attenuation.

If, say, you really were about 400 metres or so from the exchange, then I'd suggest you should be able to push near enough to 17mbps+ downstream (depending on the quality of the line), but you will not get the 1.3mbps upstream. I've never seen anyone push out the full 1312kbps, no matter how close they've been to the exchange.

If you distances are accurate, you should get the full 20Mb down, very few get the full upload speed of 1.3mb, it is impossible to say until your line is configured.

      Re: Expected Speed?

      Thanks
its the main thing that pushed me to get sky tv
that i was so close to the exchange

I have had 50meg for over a year and 20meg before that
with a 5ms jump to the first hop
so if i end up with 1/2 a meg upstream im going to be devistated

but im just sick of ntl's crappy tv quality so took a chance

Well your ping certainly won't be that quick, I would expect around 30ms but even so, that should cause no problems,.

      Re: Expected Speed?

the issue is no one has ever seen the full 1.3Mbps upload (bar one person when on gdmt) - most see 1.1Mbps up
