      Confused about sky connect

I'm currently on BT Unlimited - but I requested my MAC code as I'm wanting to change. I have an 8mb connection with BT, but at peak times my bandwidth gets throttled to around 140k/s (4pm - 11pm or something) and its starting to get on my nerves!

Anyways after a bit of browsing I found that Sky have no fair usage policy, and that maybe Sky doesn't throttle peak time traffic? Correct me if I'm wrong please.

I put my details into the broadband checker, and I have a the green tick next to sky for LLU.

My question is: does this mean I will be able to get the sky max package as opposed to sky connect, as all I've read on here are horror stories about it? Will switching to sky mean I won't get throttled for any reason and at any time of the day?

      Thanks

      Re: Confused about sky connect

yes that means you can get sky max although sometimes the local exchange you are near have no spare slots left and they would put you on connect until new slots are made for their llu service, someone else will clarify this more for you as to how often this happens but im sure sky would inform you either wether you could have it or not, although ive read a thread before bout someone in your situation being told they cant have llu service and got it when they threatened to cancel for being missold a product.

sky dont throttle on their llu service but you will suffer from congestion at peak times.

If Sky say you'll be put on Connect don't bother - it'll be as bad as it is now if not worse...

If you can get on LLU then go for it!

Good to see someone doing their homework and not jumping in with both feet then moaning because their connection is so poor.

No they won't. there is no capacity issues on any of the Sky LLU services.

Sky Connect on the otherhand should be avoided at all costs!!!

If you can't stream Youtube in peak hours, you are having problems. Maybe you don't know what a high speed broadband connection should be like.

      Re: Confused about sky connect

Yes, I have never had or seen any issues with Sky LLU that I would attribute to a capacity problem, the new VOD may change that though
