      Speed Drops

      Hi guys,

Just wondered if you could help me with anything. Recently our sky bb has dropped insanely slow on the user end here. Our router stats are great:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 19131 kbps 825 kbps
Line Attenuation 8 db 3 db
Noise Margin 7 db 10 db

However, when we browse and use it, it's running real slow:

This morning my ping was at 35 and we were getting 14mbps and 600kbps upload.

It just seems to constantly be changing?

I just tested before and it was at 0.8mpbs d/l, 200kbps up and a ping of 150ms

      I just ran another test:

yet when I check my router stats again:

It's still the same. What on earth could be causing this? Could it be a router issue? I haven't tested it in the test socket either considering the router has a good connection speed...

I bet you are using wireless

Try changing channel in the router, start at 13, try a wire and then buy a couple of homeplugs.

Using wireless but why would this be happening anyway... it's only started in the past 2 days?

Is it good to change the channel regularly?

      Re: Speed Drops

As more and more people start to use wireless devices the frequencys become packed, there are only 13 and if your neighbours have also chosen a similar number to you then it can cause all sorts of interference etc.

Couple that with things like wireless doorbells, wireless alarms and thermostats, there is very little space left.

Your best option would be either running an ethernet cable or investing in a couple of homeplugs if you don't want any wires.
