It's just that I can't get my head around the difference between everyone on the updated exchange and those subscribing to BT for theirbroadband.

Are they literally only flicking switches for their own broadband customers?

Apologies if this has been asked before.

      In other words, get registered.

I would think Sky will be choosing those on Unlimited for the trials.

so what exactly will they do to the line?
wouldnt it involve rewiring everything from the exchange to the house?

      Thanks have registered.

So even if our exchange has been updated (obviously not replacing the copper pipe to the exchange) it's still a lottery as to whether we get the higher speeds.

I assume that ALL BT broadband customers would benefit.

As stated in earlier post I wasn't clear how BT/Sky could be selective about higher speeds when the whole exchange had been "enabled".

      Perhaps someone understands all this.

Re: Our exchange is one of those being upgraded to fibre optic by BT but..

From what I have read, the fibre to the cabinet from the exchange is going to run alongside the existing copper, you could be on the highspeed line and your next door neighbour on copper. The last section from the roadside cabinet to your house will still be copper. I would think when the trials are over Sky will offer another tier, Higher Speed Unlimited or something like that, at a higher cost of course.

But my router is clocking in at 19.0MB I'm woundering if I should be expecting a speed boost even if I do get fiber optics

Not forgetting though that the homes that don't go to the exchange via a roadside cab will not be able to take advantage of the fiber to the curb as this is put the street cabs only.

That is only half the speed expected from fibre.

Are there any that don't go through a box of some kind?
