Just a thanks and a question

Just like to say thanks to everyone here very informative site.

Well move from virgin (long story ) Signed up to sky as we have the tv with them and all went well bar the fact that there was no physical line from the telephone pole to the house (even the BT engineer missed it) that took some explaining to customer service

Well the DLM went and gone and i was still connected at 2.5meg (i tried the test socket etc but it never moved). Well phoned tier 1?! today and he was very nice and managed to increase the speed to 5.5meg (i did forget though to plug it in to the test socket before calling)

Currently i have now (not on the test socket)

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5536 kbps 672 kbps
Line Attenuation 49 db 28 db
Noise Margin 12 db 11 db

above is all based on no wifi

Is it worth giving them a call in a few days and trying to get the speed increased or am i likely to be stuck at this now.

Yes, give them another ring and get them to manually set it again, you should get another couple of meg.

Check in the Test socket first. If there is a rise in your noise margin you may have to do some work on your internal wiring to get the best out of it. Plug in using only the adsl cable supplied by Sky, use wireless if it is more convenient, it does not matter when taking stats.
