      High Noise Margin

First I am a newbie but not a newbie to ADSL but I have a question I have been looking at my router stats which are:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 26841 37850 0 423 3712 03:11:31
      LAN 100M/Full 500 0 0 4 0 03:13:25
      WLAN 54M 38409 27453 0 3742 425 03:13:13
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 7 db 5 db
Noise Margin 26 db 14 db

But the noise margin seems very high I though the target is 6db will this decrease if so I never saw this when I had O2 I know im still on my training period

      Re: High Noise Margin

When did you go live? You go through DLM the first 10 days of your connection so it will go up between now and whenever...just leave the router on and it should go up...

      Re: High Noise Margin

Been Active two days and it all seems pretty much static!!

It just looks capped being 4096 and 512 being a base 2 number

      Re: High Noise Margin

it can take 72hrs for DLM to kick in but in some cases it doesn't get turned on automatically. If it's still tomorrow evening call and get it sorted - you've got a short line so should be right up there with the high teens in terms of downstream

      Re: High Noise Margin

DLM has now finished according to sky website but it all looks wrong!!

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9216 kbps 1312 kbps
Line Attenuation 12 db 5 db
Noise Margin 18 db 7 db

I think my upstream is spot on but what about my downstream
