you have a very long line with that attenuation but your noise margin definately gives more room for improvement.

i dont know what you can get specifically speed wise with that line, someone else will come along and give you specifics on that but rest assured you will get more.your best bet for now is to let the dlm do its thing but if there is no improvement then it would be best to call sky to ask them to manually configure your speed.

Sky letter said to expect 1Mbps speed, low.. but I know Im a long way from exchange so did not expect anywhere near 20Mbps, I went with Sky unlimited more for the usage policy than anything else but expected they would beat the speeds I was getting from my mobile dongle.
Initial download speed on first day was 136kbps jumped on day 2 and has been 320/380 kbps since. Hope DLM does some magic in the next few days.

Are you leaving the router in the Test socket? If you are not, that may be the problem. If you normally have the router plugged into a faceplate and the noise margin reduces, DLM will keep the speed down. From your present figures you should get 2Mb+, but this may be bettered by moving your line to G.DMT. Allow DLM to run its course then let us know how it has left you.

      Thanks isitme.

I had the router in the faceplate. I have now moved it to the test socket where it will stay until the end of DLM period.

      Ps my speeds today :-
Connection Speed 379 kbps 689 kbps
Line Attenuation 58 db 37 db
Noise Margin 14 db 8 db

I will come back on after DLM and call to Sky.

      Thanks again.

Re: Abysmal speed. Can you assist me in any way

      WOO.....HOOO

At the end of the DLM period I was still getting only 379 kbps download.

I called Sky and got manually configured to this :-

Connection Speed 3072 kbps 608 kbps
Line Attenuation 58 db 31 db
Noise Margin 7 db 11 db

      Wow, what a difference.

At my distance from the exchange I'm happy with that.

Thanks to all for the help on here.

Looks like you have been moved to G.DMT, pity they could not give you a bit more upload, I would have thought 768 would have been possible. Still, its much better than you had.
