      Re: Connected but can't download

I don't think it's malware, I'm experiencing the same problem on three devices (no macs), one of which is an iPod touch which is very, very unlikely to have malware on it (it's not jailbroken).

Could the router be comprimised in some way?

I do have an old router I could try, how do I find the sky username and password?

As a random aside, I took delivery of a brand new Dell Studio 17 on the 24th Feb; it can't have changed something on the router can it?

25th was the first day I noticed such a slow connection - conspiracy theory!!

No, a PC can't change the hard coded Sky router settings

      Re: Connected but can't download

netstat /b didnt show any other connections to anything other than chrome

Forced another reboot once the connection slowed to a stop, new stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2400 kbps 608 kbps
Line Attenuation 59.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 11.3 db 17.0 db

every time i reboot the downstream connection speed is getting less :s

Unless you are capped, rebooting with a noise margin of 11.3, should resync you about 1 Mb higher.

Which is what I was getting before . . . why would a cap be introduced?

A cap would be put on if the line became unstable at a higher speed. You would need to ring Sky to get them to remove it.

It was perfectly stable (imho) before this started; now in a queue to speak to someone at sky
