Re: not getting the max speed

Then go away and be happy with your 10Mbps as it IS the line...you're in the test socket with nothing else connected ruling so we've ruled out anything in the house (bar the router) being the issue. This leaves one thing - an external issue, be it line or exchange end...

Either way, you need to call Sky

EDIT: You did check that when in the test socket your other sockets had no dial tone as I asked ages ago, haven't you?

Re: not getting the max speed

When you take off the faceplate off the master (to expose the test socket) you'll notice there are cables connected to the back of it, assuming you have more than 1 phone socket in your house. If you have more than 1 socket and the faceplate of the master comes off clean with no cables in the back then it's either NOT the master of incorrectly wired.

The whole point of the test socket is to isolate your internal wiring to that one point so should any issues arise with your line you can rule out internal wiring before calling out BT to check things.

If you still have dial tone on other sockets with the test socket exposed then this is the likely cause of your issues and one that Sky has nothing to do with

Re: not getting the max speed

yet you missed the most important figures - the noise margins

also, please actually answer my question rather than 'I've done that'. it's a yes or no question - do you or do you not have dial tone on your other sockets with the test socket in use?

      not hard really

From this I get the impression that you think this forum belongs to Sky. It does not, as it says on the top bar this is 'the unofficial support forum for everything Sky'. It is owned by the Founders, who have nothing to do with Sky. Although Sky employees post here, they do so in a personal capacity and can do or say nothing in an official capacity.

      Deleted due to last post.
