      Connection Fine, but DL / Web speeds poor

      Hi,

      I've been moved from adsl to adsl2+ today and my connection speed went from 7170 to 9616kbps, whilst not brilliant is better than before, and has been solid with no dropouts etc.

      However actual throughput is terrible for downloads, best i've got is 0.9mb ds, 0.6 us

      router is netgear dg834, connection details;
      speed - 9616 / 796
      attenuation - 33.5 / 18.8
      margin - 9.1 / 14.5

      I know that contention can be an issue but this is like going back to almost 56k days, with some d/ls sitting at 14kB/s.

      I've emailed sky, just wondering if anyone had come across this kinda problem before?

      How are you measuring your throughput?

      It will not be an issue with an LLU connection, something else is wrong.

      Are you using wireless? If so plug in ethernet and try a speedtest at http://www.skyuser.co.uk/speedtester/.

      Start in Safe Mode with Networking and run the same test,

      Re: Connection Fine, but DL / Web speeds poor

      Hi, I'm connected with Cat5, I've turned off all other laptops and computers, which didn't make any difference.

      In answer to the throughput question, subjectively I noticed how slow web pages were to load. Objectively speedtest at thinkbroadband has the following result;

      On top of this downloads are really slow, ranging from 14 to 80kb/s
