      Hosting off port 80

      Hi,
I am running a web server with router forwarding all requests on port 80 to my box, this was working fine for about 6 months, until last week, when it seemed that Sky had blocked the port. It is working again now after cycling the router a couple of times to get assigned different IP addresses.
It seems then, that is only blocked on certain Sky switches/routers, can anyone confirm or deny this? Any other details anyone has?
      Regards

Sky don't allow the use of servers on their network, so could be to do with that

Yeah, it's the same policy for most ISPs, however they generally turn a blind eye, due to the fact that your general upstream is only going to be ~1Mb/s (atleast in Sky's case...) and you most likely will not be hosting anything substantial.

In my experience though, ISPs fall into two categories, the ones that turn a blind eye, and the ones that just block port 80. Sky however, seems to have blocked port 80 on some switches/routers and not others, hence when re-assigned an IP, my server was accessible again, my question was whether anyone had a definitive answer, ie, whether I've been lucky and received IPs from new switches(not configured to block 80) or if they don't have a countrywide policy?

      Only Sky could answer that
