As unbelievable as it might sound, this loose cable problem is exactly what I was told by one of the managers at Sky, who later phoned me back to confirm this.

Please bear in mind all the cables that are tagged to the broadband service at Sky`s main centre.

If we have no more issues, I`ll be ever thankfull to the invention of a screwdriver!
Since 2004, Sky does not support Dolby Digital 5.1 via HDMI.

Just an FYI - not suggesting anyone here is using Rapidshare for such nefarious activities but worth knowing

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

Recently, however, the company has been actively going after users that upload or download copyrighted files through the service by terminating accounts and logging IP-addresses for legal purposes.
I think this is quite significant as far as Sky users are concerned. With Sky refusing to use fixed IPs an innocent legitimate user could find themselves blocked due to the nefarious activities of another person. It is all very well saying that resyncing the router will get you another IP address, but as time goes by, more and more addresses will be blocked. Would it not make more sense if RS took down those users who are illegally hosting copyright material, or is this not possible?

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

      Hi guys

I've been following this thread as I've been suffering the same problems as everyone else.
Although, all my file sharing sites load fine now, I seem to have loads of trouble with my IP address now
For example, it says my IP is currently downloading a file from them (which it's not), my IP has reached it's daily limit (when it's the first time that day I've tried) etc,etc
This is all happening on rapidshare, uploading and turbobit etc
      Any ideas please?

This seems to happen quite often with ISPs who use dynamic IP addresses, not just Sky. All you can do is reboot your router to get another IP address and try with that. Reboot by pulling the power plug out for a minute then put it back in. This usually guarantees an address change, where s 'soft' reboot does not. I am pretty sure many use this to get round the daily limits.

They are being removed from the list so i guess the question now is how long it'll take for Sky to refresh their block list and if imagebam, rapidshare, etc. will also be unblocked or not...

Ah, so thats why my OH can't get on her Baby and Pregnancy site - It's a proboards one, and she hasn't been able to get on it for a couple of weeks from home now... Howevere, adding ":8080" ie the port to the end of the URL, all is fine...
