Is there a work around or am I going to have to borrow a neighbors WiFi connection? Like a lot of people on here I'm getting really fed up of not being able to access my account.
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service try that link the file manager wont work, but just do the ssl thing with each link

for some other file hosts that won't load using these work around's you are stuck unless you subscribe to something like this:https://www.ipredator.se/ 149.00 skr =£13.00 aprox for 3mths it don't break the bank

      Hi tommy45

I am thinking of going the VPN route myself (Posted a question about this earlier in the thread)

Took a peek at ipredator and did some Googling. Have you signed up for it and if so, what are your impressions? Do you get much of a speed drop using a VPN? Mind you, we have no speed at the moment so it must be an improvement.
If all seems good, then 5 euros a month is not much at all. certainly won't break the bank as you say.

Look forward to hearing from you

      from the wordpress forum

"Thank you for contacting Sky Help Centre.

Sky are currently aware of the issue that you are experiencing at present and apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

We currently have engineers working on this issue with a view to having this resolved as soon as is physically possible, however at present we are not in a position to offer any timescale on how long this may actually take.

Whilst this matter is ongoing your patience is appreciated.

I do not believe them, I believe this is a deliberate attempt to threaten blogs and download sites who are a threat to Murdoch's plans of world domination on the pay per view for his paper sites.

still nothing on The Register which I find very strange as these kind of stories they normally love

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

So have we now gone from a position of " its not us " to we're blocking sites due to the "big boys" it clearly isn't a rapid share problem as the site can be accessed with a work around,

I don't think this is the place to argue the rights or wrongs of rapidshare but didn't China just get a mauling over sensorship, hmmm seems a tad hypocritical, still at least we know now.

So those that store their work on Rapidshare it seems will have to use the work around or find another ISP.

New ISP provider here we come.

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

If it does turn out that they have been blocking without informing us and still claiming the service to be totally unlimited, then like I did with Pipex, I will walk away.

They could well lose my full sky HD package also as I hardly watch any tv these days, there's so much rubbish on.

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

Just to recap for new readers: It seems Sky is routing their traffic through a provider that uses the Internet Watch Foundation lists of child pornography websites (a site highly commended by the Rt. Hon. Gordon Brown, according to their webpage).

I would suspect the reason for 'switching on and off' is that someone finds that someone has uploaded illegal material to Rapidshare - they report it - IWF blocks it - a lot of people complain and Rapidshare tells them they have improved their filtering - IWF takes it off block - someone uploads something illegal again - ad infinitum.

Hence, before you switch internet service providers it might be an idea to check if your new provider also uses the IWF lists. Going from some posts
(e.g. BT banned connection to Rapidshare - Cable Forum) it might seem that quite a few do, although I haven't seen any BT ones from the last few days, so your mileage may vary. I must say I also find it surprising that they blanket ban ALL the filesharing websites at the same time.

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

anderson, why would wordpress images be blocked though, all of us would agree with the IWF list, no problems with that, but wordpress ???

that is about commercial rights not protection

Who told you this, what number did you use and did you get a name? In what tier of of Sky did they work and did you get their rank?

It seems strange that someone should say this over the phone, yet all official written replies put this down to 'technical difficulties'. I think, at the moment, it would be illegal for Sky to block any site not on the IWF's list, even if they were guilty of hosting illegal files.
