      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

Today it's not only RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
      http://Hotfile.com
      http://Megaupload.com

This btw is not a sky only issue as it is within the easynet network that 2 isp's run on so all customers on llu will be affected by this, and maybe the connect ip stream products as well

To me this pattern seems more than just co-incidence, and if this is what the internet is gonna turn into then i want a reduction in the monthly fee, as i will also have to pay for a vpn service so i can have an uncensored free internet

likewise on skyMax here. coincidence that it happens as the world realises we get spielbergs pacific later than america so tries to download it? i dunno, im just a conspiracy theorist.

just editing to say i use rs for moving videos about between me and clients, so not all use of RS is for illegal downloads before I get flamed

LOL, copyright infringement, what's that then? fly the jolly roger with pride,

Well I've spoken with them, and apparently the sites quoted are subject to filtering by easynet, due to ip ranges or links being on the IWF block list that easynet are a voluntary subscriber of, unfortunately this also causes the main log in page and sub pages of the sites to get blocked due to the way the filter works, this has been happening for years and it is not likely to stop happening,

I must admit i did think it was maybe some sort of test prior to the new mandelscum bill being passed properly, as they will no doubt try to block access to file hosting sites, maybe not at first, but the neutral interwebs days are numbered, we may as well be in china, they i personally should make this blanket blocking of these sites public , so potential customers would know before they signed up

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

For me also, not able to access Rapid or Megaupload today.
      I find this unacceptable.

Is this likely to be permanent? If so I'll either move ISP or downgrade my Sky Unlimited.

      Regards,

      Max

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

This isn't just an issue with RS upgrading their servers, or RS blocking Sky accounts or anything of the like, because you can add http://2shared.com to that list too.

Now, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon and blaming Sky doing something deliberate...but it IS something to do with their hardware when this many file sharing sites get blocked at the same time, when I have full internet access apart from them.

Anyone contacted them today regarding this new blocking somewhere in the tubes?

EDIT: Also, any answer for a workaround for megaupload? The https and IP address tricks don't work, and they're the ones I have my premium account with

EDIT of the EDIT: I can ping www.rapidshare.com and www.megaupload.com quite happily.
      Included my tracert too:

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

I haven't been able to get onto megavideo/megaupload today and last night, which sucks since I have a lifetime premium account. Being blocked from the account is enough for me to move ISP since the account cost me so much. Oh, and no this doesn't happen once a month - megaupload has never gone down like this for me and it's used pretty much daily in my house.

Anyway, it wasn't working so I went through a load of other sites and found a few more that come up with the error "HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error". This can't be a coincidence, Sky must be censoring us?

EDIT: My friend gave me access to his VPN that he pays for and I can get onto all these sites now perfectly fine (you just connect to it like a network it's a kind of proxy) it's a private one and it's fast so I can't even tell I'm using it.

      Re: Are sky blocking rapidshare.com?

The only way Sky would be censoring if at all would be if the IWF has added a list of URLs / IP addresses to the database. Sky have no reason to censor the internet or block you on Sky Max / Unlimited.

This problem happens all the time, and is usually resolved within a day or so.
