As has been said the unit monitors for activity and only runs its tests when nothing else is going on. I have a NAS, 1Gb switch and the monitor hooked to my trusty v1 Netgear router and so far not even noticed any lag or impact at all.

Paul, I could be wrong but I think the unit will only monitor devices which are plugged into it, or using wireless. You may notice a lag if they are plugged directly into your Netgear router by ethernet, should the test take place when you are using the device.

Sorry should have explained the connectivity better instead of just listing what we have in play on our setup here.
Printer is on the NAS and NAS and PCs are in the switch, switch plugs into unit which plugs into Router. Think that is how the Samknows diagram demands the installation is done for network equipment anyway. In effect everything is going into the unit before the unit goes into the Router.

      Hi All,
Just had my router and have set it up. It does not look like it has affected my Up/Down speeds at all the same as this morning. Ok she what happens now please? Just noticed that my Line Att. has gone up 0.5db

      Cheers PaulSky,
It's been plugged in all night. So the router stats page is not able to be seen until I have an email then is that correct?

I don't know why but my speed is showing nearly 1 Mb/s lower than the speedtests I have run on different sites. Showing as 6.95Mbps where I get an average of 7.9Mbps.

Re: Help SamKnows and Ofcom - Monitoring your Broadband Performance

Thats odd wonder why that is, mine seems the same as before but untill I can check my stats i really not know. One thing I have noticed is that when I open my safari browser it's taking up to 90secs + before i can see anything. Ok I know it may be something else but all my other browsers work ok.
