      Lightbulb Moving house & SkyBB!!

Well after being connected for only 2 weeks, my landlord has decided he's selling up and given us notice to quit

I thought i'd start a 'diary' of sorts on how (badly probably) Sky cope with this! I've got a new place sorted now, and i'm about to pick up the phone to Sky.......

      wish me luck!!

      Right then..

Called BT, they tell me new house is on same exchange so can keep number (Hooray!). They couldn't find SkyBB on their system as an IPstream reseller, but after investigation it's there, but under Easynet (makes sense i suppose).

BT agreed to provide simultateous switch of phone and bb services and provided me with a reference number to pass onto my isp.

PS my new place is only 600m (straight line) from the exchange, so when LLU comes along in November, i should get the full whack!!!

      AND THEN

The dreaded phone call to sky.... I called the 08705 515515 number, option 6 for cs and the option 1 for moving house. They say that they cannot provide a bb moving service and i would have to cancel and re-order. Anyway, I explained to the cs rep that BT had given me a reference for moving bb and he just said 'oh'. I'm now thinking the worst, and cs said that he would speak to provisioning and call me back. Not expecting a call back, about 5 mins later he did! They can move my tv related stuff (sky+ box and 2 freesat boxes) for a 40 standard fee, but the bb was being a problem as he cannot get an answer about the BT transfer code.

Apparently he will call me back by the end of tomorrow with the solution, but if it does need to be cancelled, I will not need a new BAND code, just re-order once the line is active at the new house.

Overall, i'm not too convinced about all this at the moment.....

Will update when I get any more developments...

Well aren't you a luck so & so

Sounds like you will be ok then so lets hope Sky don't because any problems for you, though in theory all they really need to do is an address change since your on IP Stream BT do all the work so good luck

      Latest update:

Not surprisingly, no call back from sky as promised by the end of saturday

Called them today on the current 0800 number, on hold for 47 mins before call was answered!!

Still no-one seems to know how to perform a bb move, but at least this guy understood that bt do all the work (as im on bb connect).

Promised another call back by the end of the day.......................................

Was this a factor in the choice of your new place? I can see myself asking the estate agent for a house near an exchange when I move!

Maybe house prices are going to increase nearer to the Exchange

What a thought and after you buy it you find out that the line goes in the opposite direction and get back to your house after doing a 10 mile loop

I must admit, it was a small factor but the house just happened to be what I wanted at the right price!

The fact that it's just down the road from the exchange sealed the deal
