Moving house & SkyBB!!
This is a discussion on Moving house & SkyBB!! within the Sky Broadband help forums, part of the Sky Broadband help and support category; I'm tempted to try and speak directly to BT Wholesale about this and see what they say, but no-one at ...

I read on another forum that it takes approximately 18 mintues to provide and configure a tie pair ( a pair of wires that connects your line to the DSLAM)
Taking into consideration also that it would take no more than 20 mintues to renew the jumper wire ( connects your line to the exchange equipment)
38 minutes max, to complete the task of switching services including broadband to another line.
Surely by putting a cease on your line is creating more work and also customer dissatisfaction.

Confirmed with BT Wholesale this morning;
There is a simultaineous provide order in place for my moving date, BUT sky have placed a cease broadband to be actioned on moving day!!! The really helpful chap at BTw said that with all this in place, my broadband will probably make it over to the new place, but will go off again later on in the day (as the new line will be active first thing in the morning).
My only hope is to get sky to either cancel the cease order currently pending (sky say they cannot do that) or get sky to place a provide order for moving day
I'm now convinced that i'm gonna be without broadband for weeks whilst i fight with sky to get this sorted!

Well it's just a couple of days now until gods knows what is gonna happen
Anyway, as the new place is much closer to the exchange than nowi'm gonna post my current stats and speed results and when it's finally up and running again i'll post the new ones for comparision..
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5280 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 56.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.3 db 18.0 db
Samknows says that i'm 2.72Km from the exchange, after the move it's 630m so i'm expecting a dramatic improvement!!

Samknows, doen't give an accurate measurement for my exchange either.
"Sammy Boy" thinks I'm 3.9k away from the exchange, when in reality I'm 375 metres by cable route.
Best of luck and I hope everything goes well.

Surprise surprise, no bb!!
Well the date has finally come, but sky have failed to simply 'do nothing'!!
BT switched my line over to the new house around 9.45 this morning, and hey presto the 'i' light on the router lit up. Great I thought.....BUT THEN around an hour or so later, it goes off
Quick call to BTw and they confirm that Sky had put a cancel on my IPStream!! Then a not so quick call to Sky, they said that their system HAS to cancel down my bb account for a house move According to them I now have to wait for the makers to be removed from my line, then re-register, then wait for a new BAND code, then re-order and then wait for BT to provision the line
Luckily I also have my laptop with a T-Mobile web n walk pro card, so at least ive got some net access!!
What a waste of space sky have been over all of this!

Well, SkyBB has finally arrived at the new place
New router stats:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 23.0 db 16.0 db
Noise Margin 12.4 db 25.0 db
The major problem I had was that BTw did not alter my address details on the ordering system used by IPStream resellers. This means that ANY isp that I would order from would fail and not just Sky!
Anyway, just off to do some speed tests now, but I can already feel that it's much faster!!
