      Sagem modem crashing

      Hi,
I have had Sky Unlimited for a few months now, receive 8mb not 20mb but most likely due to exchange distance. My main problem seems to be the amount of traffic the router can handle, I have a fairly busy home network:
      ~16 devices

when network traffic is quite high it seems the router crashes, all lights on the front flash on and off quickly (think flickering) simultaneously, when power cycling the router, all lights continue to flicker simultaneously unless EVERYTHING is unplugged from the router, the router left for ~2 minutes, then reconnected and powered on, usually this sorts it out for a couple of hours.

I was wondering if anyone else had had this problem and if so, knows of a solution?
      Regards

16 devices No wonder it is struggling! Home routers are not built to handle traffic like that. One solution may be to get a router which supports full QoS, which would allow you to allocate a specific amount of bandwidth to each device. None of the Sky routers will support this.

      the 16 devices are:

      3 Xbox 360s
      3 PCs
      1 orignal xbox (xbmc)
      2 Wiis
      4 Laptops
      2 ipods
      1 iphone

Though, the most devices online at any one time would probably be around 7. Surely it can support that? If not, Sky don't support any other routers but their own do they?

7 devices is still a lot for a low cost router to handle, especially as they can all make unrestricted requests to it.

It is against the T & Cs to use a non-sky router, but many do.

Spoke to Sky last night, they have blamed the issue (I did explain worries about too many devices) on a faulty power supply, and are sending a new one, will keep you informed.

Quite possible, the Sagem has a bad reputation for failing power supplies.
