Upgraded to Unlimited and download speed has gone down

Hi, I recently upgraded from Sky Mid to Max/Unlimted. It's been 12 working days (not including Sat and Sun) and my upload has gone up to 798kbps as expected but my download has gone down from 6800kbps in my Mid pack to 5024kpbs and hasn't budged since.

      Here's my stats

      Upstairs socket
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5024 kbps 798 kbps
Line Attenuation 37.5 db 23.1 db
Noise Margin 13.7 db 8.5 db

      Test socket
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 5024 kbps 798 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 23.2 db
Noise Margin 17.1 db 6.5 db

I'm just looking for any answers to why this may be happening and I could fix myself before having a long conversation with Sky on the phone. Thanks in advance

It looks like your line is capped, you need to ring Sky and get CST to uncap it.

DLM runs after a cross grade (shifting between Base/Mid/Max) so it might be slower for the first few days. Remain in your test socket, swap the filter, ring 08442 414 414 (option 1 then 3).

Re: Upgraded to Unlimited and download speed has gone down

Your Test socket stats show your internal wiring is causing interference. You should buy fit and use a filtered faceplate. If you can't do this for some reason, you may be better putting the connection back in the extension you use. If the line is configured in the Test socket and you put it back in the extension, you will get a drop in speed at best, or drop outs at worst.

Fitting and using a filtered faceplate would be your best bet, using an ethernet cable to connect your PC.

Check the faceplate in the master socket, if there is a wire on terminal 3, pull it off, this can cause interference and is not reqired when using filters. This, in itself, can make a big difference.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try and check the internal wiring tomorrow when I have time. Thanks

No orange pin inside. Just the blue ones attached to 2 and 5. Suppose this means I'll have to get a filtered faceplate then?

Re: Upgraded to Unlimited and download speed has gone down

Just had a talk with Sky and they seem to think it was a dodgy configuration set up so they are just re-configuring it and I should see the effects soon. Thanks for all your help guys
