      Speed after Upgrade Question

      Hi
Sorry to Hijack thread but I have been upgraded to unlimited for going over the 10 gig allowance.
What download speed should I be getting and do you have to phone them or will it automatically adjust to the best speed
The router stats below speed tests rand from 4.5mb down to 5.3mb which was the same for the everyday product. Just feel ripped off cost 15 cause I don't use skytalk.
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7002 kbps 252 kbps
Line Attenuation 20 db 9 db
Noise Margin 8 db 2147483647 db

I am approx 1.1 mile from the exchange

      Quanto

      Re: Speed after Upgrade Question

      Hi
See stats for plugging direct into BT test socket

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7005 kbps 252 kbps
Line Attenuation 19 db 9 db
Noise Margin 25 db 2147483647 db

      Speedtest download stats down = 6.04mb/s up=0.21mb/s

      Are these correct for unlimited?

This figure indicates a negative value, sometimes caused by dodgy filters. Change the filter and re-take your stats.

      Re: Speed after Upgrade Question

there won't be but the main factor is the noise margin...

      first post

Connection Speed 7002 kbps 252 kbps
Line Attenuation 20 db 9 db
Noise Margin 8 db 2147483647 db

      2nd post

Connection Speed 7005 kbps 252 kbps
Line Attenuation 19 db 9 db
Noise Margin 25 db 2147483647 db

as you can see there is a HUGE jump in noise margin showing you've got a noise issue your end. Once corrected your line speed should at least double with some manual tinkering from Sky CST

But the negative upstream is not very nice, especially with such a low u/s speed do you think Sky can fix it?

I would try resetting the router by pushing in the reset button on the rear, this can sometimes fix issues.
