these are my readings with router plugged into test socket

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream

i'm using a reasonably short cable to connect the modem to a filter so i can use the phone line as well. did the modem come with an modem to phone socket cable? box is somewhere in the loft

edit: unless by cable you mean the ethernet cable, in which case im using wireless at the moment, but in the same room.
There is a little room for improvement there as the target noise margin at sky is 7db, as speed goes up your margin will drop so you can see there is some to play with, but with a line attenuation of 53db a download of about 4mb is around what you can expect, if you have just changed package dlm will soon run and should give you abit more speed providing it doesn't find instability's, just leave router on 24/7 at least for next 10-14 days if you don't anyway.

If the speeds remain the same after that time reconnect back to the test socket and call Sky and tell them your already in the test socket and you need your line manually regrading for optimum speeds.
