I am afraid I am at a loss for words. Sky really need to apply better quality control on their support staff. Call them back and tell them you are not in the least happy with what they have done and you want passed to someone in CST who can configure your connection properly. Your speed should be up around 13-14 Mb, not the miserable 3 you have.

As I suggested earlier - that's a tier 1 asking his manager to configure the line; it's sad to say that most 'managers' haven't the slightest clue how to configure lines either or have knowledge of dsl.

Will do tomorrow, but im not getting 3, and if i was i would be rather happy (the max speed i remember getting was 250kb/s. Sky is totally convinced that im getting the speed it shows on there screen, which im most defininetly not.

That 3mbps figure you see is what you're synchronised to your exchange at. That is different to your download speed which you're referring to.

      Re: Slow broadband.

I think you are another who is mixing up bits and bytes. The figure you sync at is shown in kilobits per second, the download speed is shown in kilobytes per second. The first is the speed of the connection in kilobits, the second is the amount of data that can be transferred at that speed every second. Your present connection speed of 3300 kilobits per sec, less overheads, would allow you to download data at about 340 kilobytes per second.

      Re: Slow broadband.

Thanks for the replies guys, i phoned for the 3rd time today, went through loads of stuff i had already done, got a bit angry and the guy finally put me onto someone who talked to me. He figures there's something wrong with my router and he's sending out a new one. Should come this week, will get back with results.

      Re: Slow broadband.

That's better, your line was obviously capable of this. What you need to do now is call back and get them to increase your upload speed. You should get pretty near 1Mb.
