      Slow speeds

Hi im new to skyuser and im in need of some serious help..

i was on sky basic free broadband, i final got sick of its stupid slow speeds and small download limits so decided to upgrade to sky unlimited mainly for the download, i checked my line to see what speeds it was capable of and it states just as sky said i can only get a max speed of 5mb download which i was more then happy to have compared to they half 336kb i was on. they told me that i had to wait 10 days for the change to be done well that was well over 3 weeks ago and its still going the same speed i have phoned them so many times asking them why no change but dont seem to be getting anywhere does anyone have any ideas for me or could lend me a hand when i next come to phone sky and have ago thanks

      Re: Slow Speeds - Help

Post your stats, from the normal position and from the Test socket. You will find details of how to do this in the Quick Links box on the left,

You're best creating your own thread as it will get more views.

I assume the router isn't connected to the master socket or you are using an extension cable to run the router off?

Plug the router into the Test socket and post the stats.

The speed is probably capped at 384kbps at the moment, so you wouldn't see a speed change by using no extensions and plugging into the master socket, but you would likely see a big noise margin increase - which is what you're looking for.

Anyway, as suggested, plug into the test socket and take the stats and also the stats from the master socket would be good to compare.

Sky could probably give you another 2-300kb as your line stands, but if you want it fixed properly, do as we ask.

      Re: Slow speeds

ok but i will have to get back with those results right from the master socket tomoz, doing this how will it help you to fix my internet, what would be the next step after that?
