They are not supposed to use ADSL2 either, but it shows up regularly in router stats.

      Re: Slow down on Unlimited.

chances are it's a bug as there are 2 selections in LAMA for line code - ADSL2+ and G.DMT, so anything else is either the DSLAM being silly or a misreading. The drop down for the Interleve does have Fastpath but Sky never activate it as it's not used so unless an agent does it it won't be on fast...

      Re: Slow down on Unlimited.

first line open a 'ticket' to CST to get the issue resolved. it can result in 2 outcomes - 1. you get a call back and get it sorted over the phone, or 2. they do an auto-regrade (normally resulting in a lower speed) and an SMS saying they've closed the ticket...

did they give you the ticket ID? if so, call back and see if you can get through to CST..,

      Re: Slow down on Unlimited.

ok just had call back from CST (well bout 30minsago) and they sorted it all out for me, person was perfect and saw the problem before he called (i watched the router retrain from 1535kbps to 2400kbps before the phone rang, then he also took the time to test some other things and got my speed back up to around 2.6mb, he then capped my line at about 3.2mb so that i have some room to push the conection a bit higher myself which i can do withperfect stability currently - my stats now below

      Downstream Upstream
      Sync Rate: 3072 Kbps(normal is about 2624@7.5snr) 800 Kbps
Max Rate: 3360 Kbps 1056 Kbps
      Attenuation: 57 dB 31.5 dB
SNR Margin: 3.5 dB(have dropped this myself but its stable as rock at this on my line) 12 dB
ADSL Mode: G.DMT (exactly as suspected and suggested here)
      Channel: Interleave
Average Error Rate: 11.93 CRC Errors/hr

he also tried adsl2 and the speed was near enough exactly the same so left it on g.dmt

this thread can be closed now mods, just thought id post final outcome as it may help others

      Re: Slow down on Unlimited.

You may find that 3.5 is a bit low, although you don't drop out, your actual download speed may be lower than it should. I would test it by timing a large file download, then put it back to default and time the same file.

      Re: Slow down on Unlimited.

yep i did, tried it compared to a mates normal connection (which is 3mb as hes on a slightly shortly line)

time differed by about 5 seconds so i dont think its a huge difference in retransmissions.

and my crc's are only around 80 or 90 an hour which is not a huge number
