      Almost impressed...

      Well almost:

      Activayed on the day stated
      Reouter recieved in time
Connected to net time first time
      Can surf the web

      But
Every now and then it goes slooooooooooooooow
My laptop to conenct to work, conencts but when i use terminal service to dail into my work desktop , it times out as it gets no data (all worked fine under old ISP)

Are people finding slow connections ?

Also the router had some one else packing slip in it, does that matter, is the router customised to the individual they send it to ?

      Welcome to the site Nick

Well thats good news that it all went as it should

Yes there have been a lot of posts about the routers doing that if you have a look in the Sky Router (Netgear DG834GT) forum you could well find some info to help in the stickies.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.

No it doesn't matter about having somone elses packing slip - the routers are not customised to customers. Sky scan the mac codes and create accounts so even though the account may have been intened for someone else it is fine for you to use it as it will be authenticated by the server.

It may be that you have the router from someone who cancelled their account, but if sky do not cancel the mac code authentication on the server it will still be ok.

OK, thanks for the replys guys.

I spoke to sky and the line checked out at 4mb, so not that.

Tech support suggested that maybe the port for Terminal services is locked down (3389) and to un lock that -will try that when i get back home..
