Unless you go for cable you'll likely have the same issue as you've got now. Are you actually going to try and fix it or just moan about it?

With your low speed and little likelihood of it being increased in the near future, a move to Cable would be advisable. Virgin do operate a FUP which is quite severe compared to some others, so you will not get 10Mb constantly, but if you can put up with it, it will be better than you have
1Acceptable Use Policy applies. Traffic Management operates from 4pm to 9pm and 10am to 3pm to ensure a consistent user experience.
10hours of TM seems a lot, but I suppose it depends on how much the speed is reduced.

yeh virgins traffic management policy is terrible! am i right in thinking their 50mb package doesnt have traffic management? im thinking of upgrading soon, i currently get 2200-2500kbps(mostly leave pc on overnight) constantly via newsgroups but i want to be able to download between 10am-3pm and 4pm-9pm without them capping me to 500kbps

traffic management from 10am-9pm pretty much ___

According to the small print in their advert 50Mb is also 'managed'. I remember when it was first introduced, they said the 50 Mb service would not be managed, but this does not seem to be the case. It is actually the first item in the small print.

Up to 50Mb - Broadband - Virgin Media

I suppose it depends on how it is done, even a 75% reduction would still leave you with a very usable connection.

Well as you have already said, it is not Sky at fault, it is the technology what do you expect, you don't even seem to want to look into things and is there really any need for the foul language?

Re: what the F just happened ?!?

There's nothing to " look into " sky replied telling me as they have just recently upgraded my line to upto 20mb, therefore they are testing the line for 7-10 days. and it seems like its staying on 2800kbps. absolute bull****. If i lived near the exchange i'd keep sky because of how cheap it is for the 20mb service. But because of my distance from the exchange it makes no sense to stay with these prehistoric speeds when i can just pay a little more and get a good speed.
