    Terrible speed

      Unhappy Terrible speed

      I'm on sky broadband max and i am only recieving 3.5meg down speed, i have found that my exchange is only 1.51 miles away from me so i should be recieving more right?

      Post your router stats.

      Just because it is that close as the crow flies does not mean the cable is that short, it could go miles around before getting to you.

      Router stats will give a much better indication of the distance.

      Line Attenuation 57.0 db 34.1 db
      Noise Margin 8.9 db 7.7 db


      Also im 2.2 miles away on the road if that makes any difference?

      Your line length is likely to be nearer the road distance than straight line distance. You won't get much more speed from the line unless your set up is wrong. Are you in the master socket and do you have a test socket you can get a set of stats from?

      In which case you are getting just about all you can.

      If you can get Sky to check if you are on G.dmt and not ADSL2 ad the G.dmt will work better on a long line like yours you may get an extra 1mb or 2.

      You need to ring then and get put through to CST, ringing after 10:30pm is the best bet and if they don't put you through, just hang up and ring again.
