      Leaving Sky Connect

      Hi all
Just requested my MAC code, while I was on I asked them a couple of questions.

      1. Can you confirm that I can keep my Sky email as per THIS page?
Two different people I spoke to both said no, despite me pointing this out to them.

      2. Can you tell me what my average monthly usage is?
Again two different people said they couldn't give me this as they dont have a record of this for the Connect package. So I asked them how they would know if I went over my monthly allowance, this was met by silence both times!

Can anybody from Sky tell me if it is correct that I can keep my Sky email, and also wherabouts I can obtain my usage stats as I need this to decide which package I will choose from my new provider.

      Thanks
      Jeff

Sky e-mail is forever, so you won't loose it.

They can get the usage stats if needed but it is a long trawlling process so in effect there aren't any.

      Thanks Smithy
Would I still be able to access my mail through Skys Webmail page as well as POP3?

      Re: Leaving Sky Connect

I bet if I started downloading 24/7 they wouldnt have a problem getting my usage stats
Think i'm going to go to Plusnet, may take the line rental as well unless Sky make me a reasonable offer

CST can check your usage for connect package but tier 1 technical cannot and nor could any other department as it is checked via a different system and most departments dont really need access to this... i assume you were just looking to check your usage so you know what sort of package to take out with your new provider?

Yeah that's correct, be handy to know what my usage is so I can see what sort of package to aim for.

      Re: Leaving Sky Connect

      Well call me cynical, but after requesting my MAC yesterday, today I wake up to this;

      Tracing route to google.co.uk [209.85.229.99]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

      1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms myrouter.home [192.168.0.1]
      2 734 ms 764 ms 800 ms dr12.ennby.ov.easynet.net [89.200.128.194]
      3 831 ms 852 ms 853 ms 5acfee0c.bb.sky.com [90.207.238.12]
      4 929 ms 912 ms 965 ms te0-0-0-5.er11.thlon.ov.easynet.net [89.200.135.135]
      5 * * * Request timed out.
      6 743 ms 737 ms 795 ms 64.233.175.27
      7 950 ms 1046 ms 1059 ms 66.249.95.170
      8 672 ms 588 ms 609 ms 209.85.251.231
      9 * * * Request timed out.
      10 * 699 ms 640 ms ww-in-f99.1e100.net [209.85.229.99]

      Trace complete.

Average ping times to bbc.co.uk are 1089ms!!!

      Pure coincidence?
