By any chance do you have a spare router to plug in.

For the mean time, looks like an internal wiring fault.
Do you have any Audible noise on the Landline?

      Re: noise margin drop

well this is just brilliant because my stats are the following dlm has stopped woeking now

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3069 kbps 412 kbps
Line Attenuation 28 db 16 db
Noise Margin 20 db 2147483647 db
I have restarted the routher this morning and it reports a 28db noise margin upstream for a few seconds and then it just goes back to 2147483647 db

But i have a stable connection and i just dont get it why is my upstream noise margin so bad.

That problem with the upstream noise margin can be caused by a faulty microfilter try another one to see if it helps at all.

      Re: noise margin drop

i was happy about my downstream with the third microfilter i used (the one that has 20 downstream noise and 2147483647 db) so i e-mailed sky so set my speed to 10mb and cancel the dlm. They did it today and when i came home i was quite suprised. my stats were:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 12272 kbps 1073 kbps
Line Attenuation 28 db 16 db
Noise Margin 1 db 7 db

i said were as it kept disconnecting on me the routher didnt disconnect but as i was downloading it downloaded at nearly 1mb a sec then it dropped to 0 for like 30 sec then it kept repeting. so i tried all the other filters one worse than the other. and it turned out that the one im using atm is still the bect of the 3. As i was disconnecting it a lot i ended up with these stats

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 6137 kbps 610 kbps
Line Attenuation 30 db 16 db
Noise Margin 4 db 5 db

but my connection is the same as before with the higher speeds :S

You need to try the test socket again and post them on here.

Something is going on with those stats, you have alot of noise coming from somewhere.

he says he doesnt have a test socket and none of the downstairs sockets are working.

sz.oliver you need to connect a telephone to the line and check for noise, looking at your stats it seems there is an internal wiring problem.

I just dont understand how could it just drop from 30 ish down to 3 ish in minutes as even if its not the main socket nothing changed :S
nothing has to change, if your not using the master socket then your stats will drop and there is nothing sky will be able to do about this.. sometimes power-cycling the router will give you a temporary jump in stats but your going to need to find out where your master socket is and use it if you want a fast/stable connection. can you see at all from outside where the line enters the house? its far more common to have your master socket located downstairs. are you sure you dont have a socket downstairs that youve missed that may be working?
