      What can I expect?

Right so at the moment, I'm on Orange 8mb Broadband. I've ordered my Sky Broadband Unlimited and still waiting for my letter. (Anyone know how long this takes by the way?)

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could perhaps judge how my 20mb connection is going to go? I'm new to all the noise margins and stuff, so I don't know if it changes with a new broadband provider or something, but do these stats look okay?

      ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
      Connection mode : ADSL2+
      Type : Fast
      Noise margin (dB) : 17.9
      Attenuation (dB) : 18.5
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 14343
      ADSL status : Connected [0]

      Downstream Upstream
      Rate (kbps) 8061 605

It does give me an attainable download rate, but please tell me that these stats can improve? I'm desperate for at least 16mb or so. :P

I will try the test socket soon and see if my results are better, I don't exactly know if they're good now but, that's another story. :P

      Thank you.

Also, I am yet to remove the ring wire from the master socket, but I'm not actually using the master socket in my house. :/ So I don't know if it will make a difference, however later on I will move the cable from the socket it's currently in to the master socket. :P

Smithy is talking ******** - he's just winding you up unfortunately.

Ok, I lied. You should push out 20mbps on sky.

      Re: What can I expect?

      Haha, okay awesome, thank you.

However, perhaps a slight problem here? I removed the ring wire from the master socket (even though the DSL wire doesn't go into there, yet). And my noise margin has gone up. Is this a bad thing?

      Noise margin (dB) : 24.2
      Attenuation (dB) :18.5

      Thanks.

Complete opposite, mate. That's a good thing! I think you've just sealed the deal that you'll certainly get 20mbps no problems.

Remember, I did say "should see" sometimes the DLM process can need a little tweak at the end, especially on good lines where it tends to be a bit conservative.
