Alright guys thanks for the suggestions. Initially I bought one of those flat wire DSL wires, it was 15m which was far too long but the retard at Curry's insisted that I try it. Anyways, my noise margin decreased, and my attenuation increased.

So I shall stick with my 10m long DSL cable which goes to a non-master socket. The cable is very good quality though, very thick and shiny.

Thank you for all your help people and hopefully everything is sound on Monday evening, I shall report back.

have you checked the difference in stats from directly in the test/master socket compared to running through this "very good quality" dsl cable?

Well, it's just the socket that's in my sisters room. :P

I was going to do that but the only problem is some clown decided to build our floor boards over my wire, and it is almost impossible to get it out without ripping the entire floor off.

      Re: What can I expect?

You mentioned earlier that you had not removed the ring wire from the Master socket. Even though you are not using the master socket, you should remove this wire. Some take it out in all the sockets, but really it is only necessary to remove it from the Master.

      Re: What can I expect?

Yeah I removed the ring wire from the master socket, I think I mentioned it earlier and I got an improvement in the noise margin. Thanks though.

Just to update, the Livebox still reports:

      Noise margin (dB) : 25.1
      Attenuation (dB) : 18.5

However the attenuation that the Sagem router reports is like 22.

      Re: What can I expect?

the Sagem showing a higher attenuation is purely down to router chipsets reading lines differently...

      Re: What can I expect?

Right, Sky Broadband came active today, and I'm just waiting for the DLM to kick in. But it appears that my noise margin has dropped significantly.

      Anyone got any ideas why?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4095 kbps 510 kbps
Line Attenuation 21.5 db 9.8 db
Noise Margin 15.7 db 23.0 db

      Re: What can I expect?

Okay so I just rang Sky and asked for a manual configuration. They just gave me one and it's decent, but not the highest I think I can get?

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 17407 kbps 765 kbps
Line Attenuation 21.0 db 9.8 db
Noise Margin 7.2 db 10.5 db

      I get around 15mb/s on speedtest.net.

I was just wondering if DLM is still going to kick in in the next few days, and perhaps increase it.
