      Slow Uploading? Anyone Else?

Can anyone explain why my p2p downloading is just fine, but the uploading looks "throttled". I.e. it comes and goes, but is very low.

I did noticed the server upgrades yesterday evening and things were ok afterwards, but came home today to find that there had been a disconnect during the day and now this.

No other problems or issues for nearly a year now.

      Strange.

We need to see your router stats.

What do you have the upload speed set to in your client?

      Re: Slow Uploading? Anyone Else?

The upload speed is set to unlimited, as always.

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2137 kbps 798 kbps
Line Attenuation 52.5 db 20.7 db
Noise Margin 8.0 db 10.6 db

Interestingly, it disconnected around 09:30 this morning.

Connection Time 10:08:04 (posted at 19:26)

It is still able to download at full speed, but uploading is minimal (between 5 and 20 kB/s - I usually max out at 75kB/s).

      Hmmm... that looks ok, but...

I'll see what it's like tomorrow.

Thanks for the offer of help Smithy, you always seem to be around with advice.

      Re: Slow Uploading? Anyone Else?

how many files are you currently sharing? have you tried a few? maybe a recent file with high demand? just an idea to check if speedtest.net is showing that result and all your p2p and pc settings have remained the same

You're welcome m8, I try and sometimes even get a little wood on the ball

Not sure what I would do with myself now without this forum, it's the first thing I look at in the morning and the last thing at night, it's as addictive as stepping on ants!!!

      lol - you're doing fine!

Speaking of doing fine, all is back to normal now. As no-one ever tells you they are working on the system, it's hard to tell why things are happening.

btw - misfit - I had two high demand torrents queued where I would have been uploading at full tilt, but was only doing a fraction of that, whilst downloading at full speed. Never change my settings and always aware of any software / hardware changes. Go figure!

      Thanks both.

      Re: Slow Uploading? Anyone Else?

Funnily enough, it's happening again. (p2p) Upload speeds are all over the place - up and down like a yo-yo. This has probably been happening for over a week now.

Nothing else has changed in my useage. Any ideas what might be going on?

You are syncing quite low for your attenuation, have you tried plugging into the Test socket and taking your stats from there?

Isn't P2P upload more to do with 'supply and demand'. If no one wants the files you have, your upload will be low. Your speedtest upload is exceptionally good, considering your download speed.

Note - When downloading always select the Custom install or you will end up with stuff you don't want.

      No test socket.

Yes, p2p is about supply and demand, but I have been doing this for quite some time now and know that things are wrong. I was uploading a torrent to 20+ users and the speed kept dropping for a while, before picking back up again. If I wasn't on max with no cap, I would say I am being throttled. I might be right anyway, if no better explanation is forthcoming. Apart from once or twice (briefly), I have had a trouble-free experience on Sky since I joined over a year ago. Recently, it sucks.

A few seconds ago I was uploading on three torrents to 15+ users at 60kB/s, then it drops down to 3 or 4k/Bs for a while, then goes back up a little, then down, then sometimes back up to 60-70, but only for a short while. This has been going on for over a week. Sometimes it's ok, but I have noticed that it's worst at peak times... Hmmm!
