      A problems

Ok so my broadband has just started playing up today. Every 5-30 mins i get somesort of sky page that says

Your internet connection is not available, please try again in a few minutes.

So i checked my modem status and low and behold i get

      Modem Status: PPP Server Down

So does anyone know how to fix this problem. I'd love to contact sky but i'm not paying for it and the asshole that is wont contact them.

Looking at these stats you seem to have noise problems on the line which are causing it to drop intermittently. Normally the advice would be to plug into the Test socket, link below, and take the stats from there. If you are able to do that, please do so and post the results here.

I am not sure what to make of your comment which aroused so much mirth, but it seems you may be in lodgings or have an uncooperative parent. If so make sure that all the phones and digiboxes plugged into the circuit are running through a filter.

      Re: A problems

ok thanks i'l be sure to post the stats when my parents are out they would never allow me to taken the socket appart. Strage thing is i download with file hosts (rapidshare and megaupload) about 2 mins after i start my downloads thats when i get PPP server down. So i stopped my downloads restarted the router to fix the PPP thing and it was fine until i started my downloads again. So is this just a coincidence or has my downloads got something to do with it.

      Re: A problems

Nope it's the line issue, Once you post a set of stats from the test socket (hope you have one) we can tell you what to do next.
Is this the only socket on the line and what else is on the line with the router?
