      whats happened to my adsl?

      hi all

      ive had sky max adsl now for about 18m months.

      i am a fair distance from the exchange so when i 1st joined i managed a solid 2.5mbit connection

      over the last few month my connection has got slower and slower. its now barely 1mbiy. im plugged into the main socket through the provided filter.

      NetGear DG934 [Sky Firmware] V2-Black

      Connection Speed 1020 kbps 796 kbps
      Line Attenuation 57 db 34 db
      Noise Margin 15 db 9 db
      my neighbour nextdoor is also on sky max and they get over 2mbit no problem.

      whats going on?

      have you called sky to see what speed your line is configured to?

      ask them what speed your line can support and what speed they are sending at the moment, explain that it has been running at 2.5mb previously!

      has anything changed with your setup? you mentioned you have the router in the master socket through a filter which is great, could you try and connect the filter into your test socket* and post your stats up again? this would speed up the process of calling as well if sky have capped the download speed!

      gotya.

      i dont have a test socket for some reason. ie the main socket has no removable front.

      i will ring sky tomorrow and ask some questions

      just make sure it definately the master socket! i.e that you dont have any other sockets with that horizontal split, perhaps on the bottom floor in the hallway/living room?

      check that all of your sockets in use are filtered and that you are definately in the master socket before calling sky and just explain theres been a drop in the download speed over the past couple of months and you want to find out what speed your line is configured to at the moment
