!!!!!!! McAfee Security Rip Off !!!!!!!!!

Hey All.

If like me you took advantage of the free McAfee seurity when you first got Sky Broadband, you probably stopped using it when your grace period ran out.

Only when checking my Sky Bill a little closer did I see a strange £3.00 a month charge. When I clicked on it I saw that they were taking £3.00 a month for McAfee even though I stopped using it over 6 months ago. I did not authorise this monthly charge (or so I thought). As I didn't give them my bank account details. They take it thru your Sky Bill.

EVERYONE CHECK YOUR BILLS NOW!!!!!

You have to go onto My Sky, Broadband, Security, then McAfee to cancel it.

Ive been using the free AVG for years and years and never had any problems.

We've teamed up with McAfee to offer Sky Broadband customers a free trial of McAfee Security - 12 months free Internet Security Suite for up to three PCs with Sky Broadband Unlimited or 3 months free trial with all other Sky Broadband products - and then just £3 per month after the free trial.

If you registered your McAfee Security product through Sky.com (on or after 16th July 2009)
Sign into www.sky.com/mysky to manage your McAfee Security product. From the McAfee Security page in My Sky you can:
· Change your McAfee Security product (from Parental Controls only to full Internet Security Suite and vice versa)
· Download additional copies of your McAfee Security software onto additional computers (up to three in total)
· Check what date your free trial of McAfee Security will expire
- Cancel your McAfee Security Subscription - select 'Manage My McAfee Subscription from the main McAfee page and then choose 'Cancel'
· Download McAfee VirusScan for Macs

You can also view McAfee subscription charges on your Sky Bill through the 'View Bill' section in My Sky

Just checked MY SKY and i don't have the Mcafee set-up but it is there if i want to use it
not being charged on my account.

I pay for Kapersky antivirus protection.

That's why it is free initally, hopefully people will think it is too much hassle and then subscribe for £3 per month. Nothing is ever free in this world, there's always a reason.

Even if only a quarter of people continue to use it after the free subscription ends, that about 500k of people paying £3 per month which is additional income for McAffee and Sky (as Sky will get a kickback)

No its not hidden and as always, I should have read the small print. However, I did get a message from McAfee telling me that it was about to run out...so I ASSUMED that it would automatically run out without further charge.

No with McAfee you have to opt out of any subscription, I had a hell of a job cancelling them when I wanted to move the other year.
