Just seems the agents you've spoken to are either to interested or simply don't know what you're asking for. It might be that there genuinely aren't any free ports on the LLU but your exchange is 100% enabled for it...

if you have to leave ask for the MAC code, do not mention cancelling otherwise Sky will get you even more tangled up by just cutting you off.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

I have to cancel though to stop the payments coming out..

So, what you are saying is that I 1. Get the mac code, 2. sign up with another provider and then 3. cancel sky bb?

If there are no LLU ports available wont that mean that I wont be able to get unlimited with ANY provider?

Who would you guys suggest that I should go with for broadband witha good ping? The ping is all I care about and it's the only thing i'm not getting.

      Re: Misold broadband

      Update:

Just phoned them again to request a mac code from the cs team and low and behold.... they can upgrade me to unlimited! (this is the 7th time trying)

My question is: CAN I TRUST THIS MAN THAT I WILL BE UPGRADED TO UNLIMITED?!

He didnt mention any price increase etc etc just said he would upgreade us and we will receive a letter, the process will take around 72 hours.

Will being upgraded to unlimited sort out the massive ping rates I am getting?

      Re: Misold broadband

check on MySky and see what it says, or call customer services and ask if it shows on your account - it show Connect cancelling and Unlimited in progress (or something like that)...it's just finding someone who knows what to do, which is the hard bit

      Re: Misold broadband

Just logged into mysky and it says broadband connect, the advisor said it will take upto 72 hours to be upgraded to unlimited.

So I then phoned them again as you advised and a different advisor confirmed we are being upgraded to Unlimited and it will take upto 72 hours to complete.

So can I be confident that i WILL BE UPGRADED AND THAT i WILL SEE AN END TO THIS HORRID PING?

When I try to upgrade online I get the following message:

Sorry, Sky Broadband is not currently available for the telephone number entered 012*******

Sky Broadband is available in your area, but it seems your phone line may have a service on it that's not compatible with broadband. Please call us on 08442410507 to complete your order.

      Re: Misold broadband

Sounds like it, they need to get somebody in the exchange to take your line and move it from the connect socket and stick it into a Sky LLU socket.

Thing is Sky pays BT something like 18 / month for you to be on connect, it is their own interest to get their connect customers over to LLU just for the cost saving to them.

Anyways hope you'll be sorted finally.

As for ping, I'd say Sky isn't the best gaming provider out there but it should be a whole lot better than connect.

      Re: Misold broadband

Yeah I really do hope this is the end of it as it has been very stressful for me because I have to work from home to make a living and i've been going around in circles with it for over 4 months.

As long as the ping is under 80ms or so and more consistant/reliable i'll be happy.
