Good or Bad can someone advise??

Went live on 23/12 and have been up and running without to many issues

Doing a speed test daily and dont seem to be getting anywhere the estimated 6-8meg I should be

At best 1.2 but at times I get as low as 0.5

      Router stats are

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 107584 77747 0 201 824 19:36:14
      LAN 100M/Full 2809519 3014753 0 4738 2305 34:40:21
      WLAN 11M/54M 439117 619875 0 612 601 34:40:09
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1248 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 45 db 26 db
Noise Margin 12 db 13 db

Any tips or advice or do I need to be waiting a while longer for things to settle down??

      Cheers in advance

You should be doing better than that with your attenuation, post your router stats again but from the TEST socket (see quick links for details).

you certainly should be getting more than that, with a line calculator it shows you as 5888 on adsl max or 7200 on adsl2...

Re: Good or Bad can someone advise??

Test socket results are much better

      System Up Time: 00:05:21

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 589 664 0 817 3096 00:03:18
      LAN 100M/Full 999 971 0 2643 717 00:05:16
      WLAN 11M/54M 178 39 0 89 16 00:05:04
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4096 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 45 db 25 db
Noise Margin 11 db 13 db

So based on that does that mean that there is possibly something wrong with the phoneline extension then will have a jiggle about and report back

Re: Good or Bad can someone advise??

      Bum!!!!

Looks like a weekend of wiring for me then!!!!

My master socket is downstairs so everything runs of an extension from there

From there into bedroom for Sky Box and then an extension from there to Computer room for PC amd Router.

Any suggestions on how to wire it, or should I bite the bullet and get BT in and get them to fit 2 new sockets??? where I need them

The best way would be to fit a filtered faceplate to the master socket and run the router from there using either a wire or a pair of homeplugs. That will give you the same connection as the test socket so the best you can get.

Have the option of running the PC wireless so may give it a try as well before i decide to rip all the lines out.

Not had such good luck with the wirless side of PC things in the past hence the wish to stic with the love of wires.

Son No 2 finds his PS3 connects fine so maybe this DG934 will be better than I think on that side of things

Re: Good or Bad can someone advise??

Well I changed around today and went PC Wirless and with only 1 small hiccup of not adding the PC to the access list before I changed but soon sorted that out.

So the question now is based on my current set up of router direct into main socket (via a standard filter) should I be getting better than the attached stats???

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 11788 15735 0 855 7872 00:37:29
      LAN 100M/Full 17059 8604 0 5577 625 00:38:35
      WLAN 11M/54M 5795 6253 0 9495 1357 00:11:08
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3104 kbps 512 kbps
Line Attenuation 44 db 25 db
Noise Margin 9 db 14 db

      Cheers again Guys
