      Disconnecting intermittently

      I have been with broadband for almost 2 years now and overall the product has been very good.

      It started to deteriorate when Sky announced they were going to make some adjustments to the cables to provide a better/quicker broadband.

      Since this announcement (a few months now) my broadband has been disconnecting every 20 minutes or so (only for a minute but still frustating). Some days it isn't this bad but I think I've given it enough time for any teething problems to be ironed out.

      Basically if I call Sky out will they charge or will they do it for free?

      I would say it could be the modem but the telephone also sometimes cuts off but not always when the broadband disconnects.

      My line is with Sky also.

      Plug a corded phone into your test socket and check whether the line drops like that. If so, call up sky and you'll need to report a landline fault. Once that is fixed, the broadband should follow suit.

      The other day when the phone cut off my broadband was still on. Then my broadband went off but the phone call was fine. This was in the same call.

      With the telephone it doesn't appear to completely cut off. Just that the phone goes dead then comes back.

      The other day when the phone cut off my broadband was still on.
      I've had that 3 times since being moved onto the 'wonderful' SVBN. Never had a fault in the previous 14 years on the same line when BT managed it.
