      Wi-fi drops with torrent

Got myself a really annoying problem, Whenever I download via torrent client, my wi-fi drops, speeds are great, seems to get nicely up to speed then just drop connection.
Not sure where my issue lies, so far:
Changed clinet from vuze to utorrent
      Tried a new wi-fi dongle
Checked channels with inssider, I'm on 6, theres another weak signal on 6, and a strong signal on 11.

I'm lost, this only drops out with a torrent actually downloading?!?!?

Running vista 64bit, belkin wireless n dongle, and netgear sky router V2 (I Think, it';s the black one)

Chances are you are flooding the connection and building up errors, try either limiting your speed to see if this helps.

      Re: Wi-fi drops with torrent

Thanks fro that, turned it right down to 50kb, still drops wi-fi, take 90secs to 2 mins to get reconnected, only happens with high bandwidth connections, like torrents and streaming from pc to Tv...
It's annoying as on my previous xp macine it worked near flawless using wif-i, downloads streaming the lot were spot on.

Is it definitely the wireless dropping rather than the line losing sync completely?

Try limiting the amount of connections in uTorrent and tweaking it from there.

It is definitely the wireless dropping, happens when I try to stream to tv to.
I can connect via phone to wifi internet whilst computer sits there and refuses to connect!
Wish I could stop using wireless, not an option at moment.

      Re: Wi-fi drops with torrent

Unfortunately Wi-fi isn't the only thing that sits on the 2.4 GHz region.

There is all manner of devices, doorbells, central heating thermostats, remote power plugs, video senders etc, all sitting in the same band.

I have 17 wireless devices in my house and I don't use wi-fi.

The problems you are experiencing may be due to a device in one of your neighbours house going off on a regular basis.

Best thing is to go though the channels and seeing what one works the best.

Check with the manufacturer for the latest 64 bit driver for your wireless card. Download it and install it.
