      Different IP

I understand sky provide a dynamic IP Address.
I am wondering if there is a way I can change the IP Address that has been assigned to me? Reason I ask is some websites I am not able to access and have emailed the support and they state that for whatever reason, the IP Address I have has been blacklisted and they recommend to change the IP Address.

Any ideas on what the best way is to get a different IP Address?

lol nevermind. I managed to get a new IP by hitting the disconnect, waiting a few minutes, then connect button in the router configuration

Yep that's the easiest way of doing it. Power off the router a couple of mins if the IP doesn't change when you try the disconn/ reconn route.

      Re: Different IP

Yup, that's the only way to do it on Sky.

Sky are using a range of IP addresses that weren't previously used on tinternet. They are not blacklisted as such, more a case of they aren't whitelisted.....ie:

the website is expecting an IP address in the range 1 to 1000 and Sky is now using IP addresses in the range 900 to 2000, so the website just needs to expand its range.

When Sky first launched there was loads of problems like this. I'll see if i can dig out the orig thread.

Sky can't help you resolve the issue at the other end but they should have told you how to get a new IP, not as though it's hard is it lol

      Re: Different IP

lol exactly. but they said that there is no way to get a new IP as they dont supply static IP's but only dynamic and I said that I know that.... but they should have told me how to at least obtain a new dynamic IP.... and they kept saying that they cant help.

      *sigh*

      Re: Different IP

Don't worry, I used to work tier 1 and it did my head how many of the agents I assisted had not even a basic clue Training will only go so far and then it's up to the agent to put their knowledge and experience into the mix, trouble is the system ties their hands a lot and if it's not in the guide they are not supposed to offer it as assistance
