      Low download speed

      Hello chaps

      Great forum - thanks to those who run it and to those who answer requests for help from the uneducated like me...

      So I am on Sky Broadband Everyday. I have my Netgear DG834GT (White) plugged into the master socket. Here are my stats. Let me know if you need any other information. Any help gratefully received. Let me know if you need some property law advice in return...

      Connection Speed 1535 kbps 606 kbps
      Line Attenuation 41.5 db 25.0 db
      Noise Margin 21.9 db 18.0 db

      If you have only just joined Sky then you are waiting for DLM to run and confgure your line, this starts within around 72hrs and takes 10 days or so to complete.

      You should see near the 10mb mark with those stats, remember, do not turn off your router during the DLM period otherwise it could think you have a fault and reduce the speed.

      In which case, your line is capped, you need to ring Sky ans ask for the cap to be removed.

      ..........and don't take no for an answer. If they say you are getting as much as you can, tell them you want to speak to a manager and ask to be passed to the Customer Solutions Team. If that gets you nowhere, keep calling back till you get someone who will listen.
