Useless Sky has left me without internet

I ordered Sky Unlimited at the beginning of the month, all roses and flowers - "you can get 10-20mb" and "we'll get you all set up within a few days".

I thought, great! So I got a MAC code off of my old ISP and gave Sky it. Then, it was time to wait. A letter came through giving me my activation date, the 18th.. could've been earlier, but OK. Now.. the router? I waited and waited.. nothing. Called them up and the rep told me nothing was ever sent out, lovely.. just before Christmas.. everyone wants to use the internet to play games online or use their new gadgets etc. Sky wouldn't let me down now... would they?!

This was the 22nd, it obviously weren't coming for a few more days. Today is the 30th, Royal Mail are now working again. Orders made before and during the Christmas period have turned up, but still a package still seems to be absent.. My router.

All the emails I've sent to support tell me that they can confirm that an order has been placed for a router, but no tracking number, rough dispatch date or when I can expect it. Just silly excuses such as "please expect delays due to the Christmas and New Year period" when Royal Mail were only off for a matter of days.

Now I'm a bit lost on where to go next and could use some advise from someone who has experienced or witness similar issues.

Thank you and have a happy new year.

Last briefing I had on router deliveries, which to be fair was ages ago, was that RM send out the routers to new customers and existing customers (replacements) are sent via Parcelforce.

If a router has been sent, then the consignment/order tracking number should be on sky's systems to track via Royal Mail's website. Ring them up and find out just where it's gotten to.

Well I guess my info is a bit out of date, its 3 years since Sky sent me a router but I could have sworn it was by courier, green and white parcel if i remember correctly - Citylink ?

Re: Useless Sky has left me without internet

I too thought it was PF, however they told me it's Royal Mail. However, 3 different representatives told me it's being sent by 3 different forms of delivery. One said standard, another said recorded and another said special. So who knows. Will give them a call though, bit ridiculous now, should have been here if they sent it out.

New routers go out via Royal Mail, replacements via Parcel Force - or it was before I left...

Would a second router be considered a replacement? Because I never got the first one.

Re: Useless Sky has left me without internet

As for cancelling, seeing as I haven't got a router, neither have I paid anything for Broadband yet, am I obliged to cancel? Because if Sky mess anything else up I'm considering going with BE.

There is nothing to stop you cancelling, but if you do, you could be in a worse mess. If you are contemplating this, get your MAC first. If you just cancel and your line has been activated you will not get a MAC, causing no end of problems in moving to another ISP.
