      Phantom usage

      Hi

Hope someone can enlighten me. Only have the base package so 2gb per month. Since the new usage tool became available I have beeen monitoring my usage. Checked seven days ago and I had used 1.41gb. Have been away in between over Christmas, came back last night and checked again this morning and usage was 2.65gb. Router and PC were both switched off but I did use my netbook at my sister's and assumed that that usage would be out of her allowance.

Can anyone give me a clue on this. All replies gratefully received.

      Re: Phantom usage

If you were at your sisters hooked to her router then of course it was out of her allowance. First thing I would do is change the wireless password as you may have someone helping themselves. It may also be that the usage tool was not fully updated before you left and the usage is actually a correct reflection of your usage before you left for christmas.

If they were switched off, no one could possibly use them. Check the router log just to be sure no one has used it without your knowledge. It should show the time and date you switched off then switched on again.

All being correct, you should call Sky and express your concerns. From what has been posted on the forum the Usage tool does not seem to be working too well.

      Re: Phantom usage

Thanks for those replies. Seems there was no unauthorised access. I will monitor the usage daily and call Sky if I find any more abnormalities.
