Sky Upgrade turned out to be Downgrade ;-(

Hi my first post and as you can guess very annoyed ;-(

Sky sent me a letter saying I was being upgraded to their network and will see improved speeds etc etc. Since they have upgraded me I have gone from 4mbs to 2.3 mbs. I have rung the helpcentre numerous times and as you are all aware go through the stupid process or unscrewing plates etc.

      Stats are included below:

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 7622 10234 0 21 139 20:58:50
      LAN 10M/100M 1267 0 0 5 0 20:59:41
      WLAN 11M/54M 12138 9358 0 152 24 20:59:33

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2368 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 57.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 7.3 db 11.0 db

Should I ask them to put me back on my old network? Will this be possible as they have tried all sorts of configurations and all I can get now is 2.3mbs which to me is no upgrade and as far as I am concerned a downgrade!!!!!!

      cheers fellas ;-)

You must have your line rental with them, you are now on their SVBN network and you cannot be switched back, in fact it is worse than that, it will cost yo a re-connection charge with BT if you ever did decide to leave Sky and go with another ISP.

ALL SKY CUSTOMERS BE WARNED, DO NOT GET YOUR LINE RENTAL WITH THEM UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE IN THE SAME BOAT!!!

      Long line + ADSL2+ = Disaster
      Long line + ADSL2+ + SVBN = Mega Disaster.

For some reason Sky seem to have great difficulty configuring a line which has been moved to the SVBN. I have no doubt that eventually they will sort it out, but that does not help those who are stuck in it now. Those who have benefited from the move to SVBN are very few and far between.

He's on g.dmt, Isitme, unless that's a general statement in which case I'd agree!

ManCityMarv, when you were moved to SVBN, has your phone line been having any bother?

as his upstream is 416kbps - so yes he's on GDMT...

and remember - only the bad connection on the SVBN are reported here - before I left loads were absolutely fine...

Thanks for replies - They upgraded me on the 7th december. I play Modern Warfare 2 a lot and use to be half alright now I am just cannon fodder since they upgraded me constantly on a 2 bar connection ;-(
Regarding the phone line not had any issues with it but dont use it that often due to having loads of minutes on my mobile so it looks like I am screwed????
I rang Sky yesterday and they said they are going to send an email to the emergency rollback team!?!?!?! does this even exist if I have been moved to this SVBN server?

Not too sure on SVBN's procedures, but it's not as if being physically moved to sky's ISAM can be 'rolled back' I'd imagine?

Typically you'll sync in at 416kbps on g.dmt and if you're on adsltwo+, then you'll sync in at 412kbps (or 415kbps... just somewhere a little below 416kbps).
