      Broadband disconnecting, reconnects at much slower speeds.

      This has been happening ever since i switched to Sky broadband (big mistake), every so often, the Internet will just disconnect and upon reconnection (I have to do this, i usually just reset) the speeds will be massively slower than they were before the disconnection. Initially I found that alternating the microfilters would fix this speed drop, but lately, this has not been the case and this problem is starting to become really frustrating. I never lose connection to the router, but the router always loses connection to the internet. Can anyone suggest a fix of any kind?
      Thanks.

      We'll need to see your stats from the socket you're in at the moment whilst the adsl is connected:

      How to get your router statistics

      And then a set of stats from your test socket:

      How to test your ADSL in the Master Socket

      Also, a run down of how you have everything connected to telephone sockets as detailed as possible would be optimal.

      Sure, (i'm paying for 2Mb)
      Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 929 kbps 253 kbps
      Line Attenuation 63 db 42 db
      Noise Margin 13 db 16 db

      Master Socket;

      Downstream Upstream
      Connection Speed 1208 kbps 253 kbps
      Line Attenuation 63 db 41 db
      Noise Margin 7 db 16 db

      My setup as of now is;

      It appears to have helped marginally speed wise, however i cannot comment on if it has fixed the disconnection problem until it disconnects (if it does)

      Unfortunately you have a very poor long line. There is a chance that you are on ADSL2+, which often performs badly on long lines. Switching your Mode to G.DMT would probably improve your connection and speed. Whether you can convince Sky support to do this is another matter. All you can do is ask them, there is not really much more you can do at your end.

      Try giving Sky a ring and mention about G.DMT. Sky have some very good support personnel, especially when you get past Tier 1, They may be able to help.
