      Excruciatingly Annoying problems

      after coming back from university i was shocked to discover that my broadband download speed was no way near as fast as it used to be.

      the router is saying that the DownStream connection speed is 4457 Kbps(i know it wont download at this speed) but im getting download of about 50kb/s

      You have a line problem somewhere, try getting the stats again from the TEST socket, check all filters are still in place etc.

      You have a serious line problem somewhere. Your ES rate is running at nearly 100%, that means that every second you are connected has an error in it. Your CRC rate is about 33%, which means that a third of the packets you send have errors and have to be resent. It is not surprising your download speed is so low.

      Do as suggested and plug into the Test socket and post the stats from there. When you have the faceplate off check that all your other extensions have no dial tone. Also do a quiet line test by plugging a corded phone directly into the test socket, no filter, dial 1 digit and listen.
