do you have a source on the problems upgrading SVBN lines
Only what has been reported on the forum by various members.

Also, what is a good Noise margin to have?
It depends entirely on your situation. If you have the default margin, around 7dbs, with a good speed, that is sufficient. If your line is capped and you have a reasonably low attenuation, as you have, you want to see a very high figure, somewhere in the high 20s or low 30s. This gives enough margin to raise your speed to a good level, before you hit the default figure. With your existing margin you will be lucky to get a 1-2Mb increase.

Plug the phone directly into the socket, no filter.

      Re: Re-grade to 10Mb ordered on 6 Dec 09

I just happened to look on the off chance at the router status page and the connection, I think over night has gone from what it is above to:

      ADSL Firmware Version A2pB023o.d20h
      Modem Status Up
      DownStream Connection Speed 8190
      UpStream Connection Speed 415
      VPI 0
      VCI 38

Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 32564 49542 0 40 4050 11:13:19
      LAN 75 0 0 0 0 23:16:56
      WLAN 517616 455426 0 4290 54 23:16:31
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8190 kbps 415 kbps
Line Attenuation 28.0 db 13.7 db
Noise Margin 13.6 db 25.2 db

Strange! Although the upload is a bit slow. Not sure if I am on ADSL2 or not?

You may have been changed to G.DMT which could account for the vast improvement in your figures. Ask them if they can improve your upload speed and maybe give you a bit more download.

Thanks. I am waiting on a reply to see if they can bump it up a bit more to 10Mb - What would be the next limits? I am pretty happy with the speed it is at now though.
