Outlook 2007 problem

I'm working on a new HDD, fresh install of XP and outlook 2007.

I've been through the tutorials on both sky and on here to allow pop on sky and to set up the program (advanced tab, SSl settings, port numbers etc)

Despite all this either a test message or just send and receive keep bringing up the enter network password box and yes I've been through the Sky unlock page.

Is there anyway of checking if my password has been reset somehow without spending the rest of this year wading through Sky's help(less) call centre as I can't think of any other reason for the problem

Or does anyone have any other suggestions

Re: Outlook 2007 problem

The first thing to check is that you are using your full email address in the username space in the Email settings pane. ie, aaaaaa@sky.com This is a very common mistake.

There is a Video tutorial here, which you might want to have a look at -
Sky User - Configuring Outlook 2007 for Sky Email

Re: Outlook 2007 problem

Thanks for the swift reply but yes I've entered the full email and I've been through the tutorial.
Still no luck.

Is the password supposed to be the same as the one used to access the web mail or the one used as for your overall broadband access.
I've actually tried both with no luck though.

The one used for Webmail. Have you checked if it allows you access to the webmail page?

Re: Outlook 2007 problem

Yes webmail is no problem.

I've just gone back and checked all the settings again and re entered the password.
After a whole morning trying to sort this it now works!! Go figure.

Thanks for your help, I think I'll have to put this one down to a combination of Gates and Murdochs little elves having been at the sherry.

Probably.

Email connections are prone to problems from time to time. IMAP is probably more reliable, and more flexible, like giving you the ability to use the same folders in Outlook as on webmail.
