      New broadband customer

      Hi,

I am a new customer to sky bb, well i used to have them a few years ago but to virgin for bb. My activation date was yesterday and all was o.k apart from, my connection is set at 4096k down and 512k up. Reading through the forum it seems like this is what they set it to on the first day, i have checked today and its still the same. I have checked the broadband status page in my sky and that says the most i can get out of my line is 4mb which i know is wrong as when i had adsl from sky i hit a good 16mb connection. I phoned them up and they say that the most my line will handle is 4mb, and they have said they wont acknowledge there may be a problem until after 10 days. I can only cancel upto saturday as they have said you have a 10 day cancelation period from the date they send you the router. My connection details are:

Down attenuation 31db, noise margin 25db
Up attenuation 17db, noise margin 14db

They have said they cannout setup dlm? until after the 10 days. Am i being fobbed off or is it true what i am being told. If so is there a number you can contact to speak to someone who knows what there on about.

      Thanks

      Re: New broadband customer

It can take upto 72 hours for the DLM process to kick in. Just keep the router plugged in at all times and it should start.

      Re: New broadband customer

Ill wait and see what happens, do the values for my attenuation etc look o.k for a 16mb connection or is the 4mb they are stating more than likely correct?

You should be OK for 16Mb, but check the connection in your Test socket, link below. See if the noise margin rises much.
