Low SNR from 4pm till the morning?

Hi people, im having problems with low SNR, disconnections and sometimes having a dead line (doesnt resync properly) the problems only happen after 4pm.

Between about 8 am and 4pm i have a faster sync speed and a higher SNR, through the whole day it doesn't drop by more than 1db, im connected to an extension, and the downstairs socket also has problems after 4pm, also has around the same sync speeds.

      heres my stats at 2.40pm:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7475 kbps 916 kbps
Line Attenuation 42 db 24 db
Noise Margin 7 db 7 db

after 4pm the line will lose connection and resync betwen 6 - 6.7mbps and the SNR is around 0 - 5db? i will post the exact stats later when its after 4pm.

Unfortunately we are are at that time of the year when many extra lights are in use, especially the Xmas kind. These nearly always have an effect on the noise on the phone line. There is not a lot you can do except sync at a lower speed and accept you are going to loose some for the next couple of months.

It could. Try to check the time it is switching on and off that may give you a clue. If it is, there is not much you can do about it.

Re: Low SNR from 4pm till the morning?

      Hi
I have exactly the same problem( lampost at bottom of garden and telephone pole 10 feet away ) and i've been through all you could think of....

BThave sent a Rein engineer out and between them and sky i have been told it is an earth problem in the lampost?? and its not their problem and to contact the council myself to try and get them to fix it.
this has taken 5 months to get to this stage so good luck hope you get fixed quicker than me

You're lucky, I couldn't even get a REIN engineer out after dark.

Re: Low SNR from 4pm till the morning?

It's also happened to me since day one on Sky. Never happened on BT!
I've not got a lamp-post near me either!

Could it be the Sky Router? I used a D-Link for a little while and the SNR never varied on that!
